For many, a relationship with long hair—growing it out, finding your style, chopping it all off, growing it again—is a cyclical, lifelong affair. On the one hand, manes left long and loose allow natural texture some room to roam free. On the other, caring for down-to-there hair is a full-time job and one that starts with finding the perfect haircut. Disheveled-on-purpose strands bribe us with their trendy look and minimal styling time. If you go for a basic choppy, disconnected cut in your preferred length, you can be sure you have an immediate wash-and-go hairstyle. Opt for a shape flattering to your face, as these chops may be surprisingly diverse.

Choppy Lob

It’s time to tease it a bit and brush it back to conceal the spots where you pinned your twists and complete your look. With the upper layer out of the way, split the bottom layer into two sections, one on the left and one on the right. Take one of the sections and twist it back from your hairline, keeping it close to your scalp, until half of the section is twisted. Then, pin it in place at the nape of your neck so that the ends fall down the back of your head. If you have a lot of hair in each section, you can create multiple twists. Lifted, brushed back tresses have been flooding red carpets and social media feeds alike—and that’s with good reason.

Wash and Go Haircuts for Fuss-Free Styling

Embrace your hair’s inherent texture by incorporating its undulating patterns into a high taper haircut. This style gradually shortens the sides, allowing the waves to become a natural focal point at the crown. Growing out your straight-across fringe or want to ease into the whole thing entirely? Center-part your hair and ask for long, sweeping curtain bangs. These long layered bobs are literally everywhere rn and layers are key to achieving the style. They work really well with the darted half-waves, and the different lengths of hair give you a ton of texture all over.

LACMA has transitioned to a de facto contemporary art museum. But not a very good one

Long bangs and wispy layers throughout make longer lengths appear especially romantic. Worn wavy, this style will boast a wealth of touchable texture, while straight and glossy skews chic and sleek. Tight coils trimmed and styled to perfection are the ultimate option for those blessed with natural curls.

They vary in lengths, textures, finishes, colors and may look completely different depending on your hair type and the chosen style. Since the choice in this category is practically unlimited, we guarantee you hundreds of worthy examples to choose from. Throw in some gritty texture and shine—with the help of R+Co Rockaway Salt Spray ($26) and Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil ($21)—and it becomes It-girl cool. To keep straight locks from falling flat, consider adding some long layers which will create body and movement to your hair.

Finish this look in your favorite oil to prevent unwanted frizz and tame flyaways. Layers do matter, as they completely transform the appearance of limp locks. A pixie, lob or shag are very rewarding for the hair that lacks density. Check our suggestions and pick what looks appealing to you.

Naomi Campbell adds some flair to her sleek-straight mane with blunt bangs. And while we can't deny that she makes a strong case for long hair with bangs, unless you have straight hair—and even still—these bangs will require some upkeep to style and maintain. So if you're looking for something that won't add too much time to your hairstyle routine, you might want to opt for curtain bangs or side-swept bangs instead. When it comes to styling a V-shaped haircut, the world is your oyster. Any hairstyle that accentuates the many layers the cut adds to your mane will be a winner.

So, it’s the right moment to refresh your haircut, isn’t it? You can go for a completely new style or introduce a trendy twist to your usual cut that you have been wearing for years. To consider which way to go, it won’t be superfluous to be aware of the current hair trends.

Tapered Layers

Maximizing your organic texture may take time, but the results are well worth the commitment. This style is easy to personalize and works well with virtually any texture. With full bangs, face-framing layers, and piece-y styling, this butterfly cut skews ‘70s in the coolest way. While a full blowout offers the glamour of the butterfly, there’s something to be said for rocking the style straight. There’s something to be said for layers cut long and soft. The cascading style feels romantic and timeless—and still allows for an easy updo.

Here are 15 stunning long haircuts with layers in the front to show your stylist, along with the comments on their winning points. Long layered hairstyles look fantastic even if they are simple. If you're lucky enough to have long hair but are unsure about how to style it, you're in the right place. Not everyone can manage to grow their hair long.

If you want to combine this trend with a short haircut, stay with us. We've gathered the best examples of short feathered haircuts — from edgy pixies to elegant lobs — to help you make your choice. A buzzword to describe a haircut can mean a million different things to your hairstylist. As straightforward as front layered haircuts for long hair may seem, they still have unique elements that might attract you to the specific cut. One way to make sure you and your hairstylist are on the same page is through inspiration photos.

Then all you need is a fine-tooth comb and some hairspray to tease in that back volume. Long layered hairstyles with bangs are now in great demand. Everyone wants a flattering hairstyle that’s also trendy, effortless-looking and convenient. Layers make long hair more manageable and eliminate the irritating factor of longer strands getting in the way or falling into your face.

This design adds a contemporary contrast that pops against darker hair tones, ideal for those looking to make a unique, modern fashion statement. This style is particularly flattering for those who prefer a modern, polished appearance without the stark contrasts of more aggressive fades. The House on Netflix Explained, Cast, Reviews, Parents Guide, and More

the fall of the house of usher parents guide

She hits a mirror with the fire poker and a shard of glass gets stuck in her face, but she’s too distracted by the woman’s voice. She keeps trying to find her and then gets a piece of glass stuck in her foot before she continues swinging the fire poker all around. Verna disappears, and Tammy jumps on her bed and hits the ceiling mirror with the fire poker, falling back onto the bed and getting stabbed with huge shards of glass in the process. Arthur goes to check out the crime scene at Victorine’s and finds a patient file, recognizing Verna’s photo in a copy of her ID. He takes it with him as he continues to investigate who this woman is, soon calling up Madeline and telling him that the address on the ID is her and Roderick’s childhood home. He shows up at her place unannounced and apologizes for turning the siblings against each other.

What's the Story?

He starts tearing apart the whole apartment using Thor’s hammer (“I can get Hemsworth to send me another!”) to bust down the walls after Verna tells him she can hear the cat inside. The replacement Pluto also has a habit of bringing in bloody animal carcasses and leaving them all over the place. Interestingly, Julius never sees the cat, it’s always just run out of the room or hiding whenever he’s around. Things come to a head between the couple and the new possibly-ghost cat in bed one night when Napoleon finds a bloody rat under his pillow and accidentally knees Julius in the face. And speaking of Verna, she’s also the one who is in charge as the security guard that night at Victorine’s lab. Camille comes face-to-face with Verna for the first time that night as she sneaks in to take pictures and expose Victorine for what she’s been doing.

At his office, Roderick talks to the visions of his deceased kids while opening up a package that contains Egyptian antiques, including sapphire eyes. Madeline comes to his office and notices that he still has blood all over him following Victorine’s death. He explains that he needed to rush over to the office before the press got to him.

Victorine LaFourcade (T'nia Miller)

A funeral is held for Perry, Camille, and Leo, and at the church, Roderick has more disturbing visions of his kids’ bodies. The remaining siblings, which include Frederick, Victorine, and Tammy, discuss the current state of their family and where to go next. Madeline tells Roderick that it’s beneficial to them for Roderick to stay there, to get beside Griswold and later stab him in the back. Annabel overhears Madeline’s disturbing speech to Roderick and later tells him she really does not like his sister. Camille’s assistants, Tina and Toby, succeed in digging up something damning on Victorine. They’ve learned that she’s allegedly swapping out dead chimpanzees for live ones, meaning when one of the test chimps dies on the table, she makes it seem like they survived so her trials appear more successful than they really are.

Victorine meets with the patient about to go through with the heart trial, who is really Verna, and although she admits to being nervous, she agrees to go through with it if Al says it’s a good idea. Victorine starts to hear a weird, repetitive chirping noise and she can’t figure out where it’s coming from. The noise continues to get really loud before abruptly stopping and then starting back up again. In just about the worst timing, Madeline goes to see Victorine and wants to know when she’ll be ready for the human trials. Victorine is confused as to why her aunt and her father have such an interest all of a sudden. Of course, we know it’s because of Roderick’s worsened condition, but his daughter has no idea.

And when members of the Usher family start dropping off one by one, it becomes apparent that something far more sinister is afoot. The Martian Chronicles, a 1950 collection of stories by Ray Bradbury, contains a novella called "Usher II," a homage to Poe. Its main character, William Stendahl, builds a house based on the specifications from Poe's story to murder his enemies. Based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe and borrowing liberally from many of his best-known premises to great effect, "The Fall of the House of Usher" opens with the uber-wealthy Usher family in freefall. Patriarch Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) and his twin sister Madeline (Mary McDonnell) have built a pharmaceutical empire on the back of one brilliant painkiller — sound familiar? — and now it's all crashing down amid a criminal case pushed by dogged prosecutor C.

Where to Watch

She successfully weans herself off of Ligodone, while Arthur is arrested. Finally, Roderick comes clean to Auguste in the present timeline about what happened that night in 1980 and how it changed his and Madeline’s entire lives. The wrecking ball comes in and Frederick and Verna lay on the floor together as the building comes down.

In a final fit of rage, she attacks her brother, scaring him to death as she herself expires. The narrator then runs from the house, and, as he does, he notices a flash of moonlight behind him. He turns back in time to see the Moon shining through the suddenly widened crack in the house. As he watches, the House of Usher splits in two and the fragments sink away into the lake. It is revealed that Roderick's sister, Madeline, is also ill and falls into cataleptic, deathlike trances.

"The Fall of the House of Usher" is proof that Flanagan still has plenty to say in the horror space, and it's a wonderful sendoff for his Netflix era. Character names, plots, and even direct quotes make their way into every fiber of the series, setting the tone for what's to come — and thankfully, it's a tone that sets the show apart. Like Poe's own grandiose stories of dark adventure and macabre death, "House of Usher" is operatic, darkly comic, and rich with bombast. It’s rated TV-MA, meaning it’s only meant to be watched by mature, adult audiences. It was given this age rating for strong language, sex, smoking, substances, suicide, and graphic violence.

Each episode is stuffed with literary easter eggs and fun references for fans to watch and rewatch over and over again. Flanagan also excels at developing complex and well-rounded characters, and the Usher siblings are no exception. Roderick and his sister Madeline are both deeply flawed individuals, but Flanagan does a masterful job of making them sympathetic and relatable. Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher is a brillant exit of Mike Flanagan’s contribution to the streaming service, delivering the horror so many have come to love. Check out the details in my The Fall of the House of Usher parents guide review. Where The House falls short is in its story-telling, which is strange and tiresome.

the fall of the house of usher parents guide

They share a drink and talk about whether or not they actually believed Verna all those years ago. Madeline gets up but starts to feel woozy before realizing that Roderick must have spiked her drink with something. She falls to the floor and he places her body up on a table, realizing he wants to preserve her as best as possible. He brings out those sapphire eyes, presumably in an effort to mummify her like the Egyptians did. But as we see Roderick point his knife at her, the scene cuts to Auguste asking what he did to her.

Juno meets with her doctor, making the decision that she wants to get off of Ligodone. She’s on 2,000 milligrams a day, and she no longer wants to be dependent on it. Napoleon and fake-Pluto get into a full-on brawl at one point and Napoleon squeezes him so hard the cat’s eye pops out.

Obviously, none of the content just listed would be appropriate for young kids to be watching, so we don’t recommend watching this show when they’re around. Let’s take a look at what concerned parents need to know about the age ratings of the series before letting their younger children watch The Fall of the House of Usher parents guide. The House could have truly been something special if it had nailed the storytelling. It is clear they spent much more time on the animation, which for what it’s worth, is worth the watch for that alone.

But it turns out that the criminal case is the least of their worries. Like "Hill House," "House of Usher" is a sprawling ensemble piece derived from the works of one of horror's great literary giants. It's sumptuous, detailed, and full of the kind of narrative flourishes that Flanagan excels at through an unrelenting passion for structural symmetry and thematic resonance. The first two episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 before the Netflix release the following month, being viewed more than 13 million times in its first two weeks. To secure their fortune — and future — two ruthless siblings build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs mysteriously die, one by one.

The Black Cat

Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) attends a joint funeral for a number of his adult children, and in a montage of press coverage, we see how a series of “freak accidents” has wiped out his entire bloodline. The Usher patriarch then sits in a dilapidated mansion with Carl Lumbly’s Auguste Dupin (based on Poe’s famous recurring character who is considered the first detective in fiction) and offers him a confession. We then flash back a few weeks to when the Usher clan were on top of the world, having become Sackler-esque billionaires peddling opiates that have inflicted untold misery on the American public, and begin to watch their painful demise. Flanagan has form with making tributes to some of horror’s most beloved oeuvres. He took on Shirley Jackson in The Haunting of Hill House (which was fabulous), Henry James in The Haunting of Bly Manor (spooky but saccharine) and Christopher Pike in The Midnight Club (meh). Thankfully, Flanagan and Poe’s sensibilities prove a winning pairing, staying on the edge of terror without cascading into jump scares and sentimentality.

In film and television

It follows the ambitious yet ruthless twin duo Roderick and Madeline Usher, who build a family dynasty through their corrupt pharmaceutical company. But when their bloodline starts mysteriously dying one by one in a brutal fashion, secrets come to light, and they’re forced to face their dark, questionable past. We cut back to that New Year’s Eve party where Roderick and Madeline celebrated 1980.

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking

The decrepit house acts as a physical manifestation of the Usher family. The narrator observes the house as having an almost human-like quality, describing its windows as “eye-like.” Just as Roderick appears to radiate his own melancholy, so too does the house have a depressing air. Furthermore, the house, despite holding together as a totality, shows signs of physical decay, like crumbling stones, dead trees, and mushrooms growing from the masonry. Madeline herself is dying of a wasting disease, showing physical deterioration. Perhaps the most obvious parallel lies in the initially shallow crack in the manor, representing the impending destruction of the house.

However, for horror fans of Flanagan’s work and gothic horror in general, “The Fall of the House of Usher” is a must-watch and for parents, make sure to check out The Fall of the House of Usher parents guide section above. Mike Flanagan’s latest Netflix horror series, The Fall of the House of Usher, is a visually stunning and atmospheric adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story. Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher releases on the streaming service across the United States today, October 12th.

The Fall Of The House Of Usher Review: Family Is Hell

Napoleon, who goes by "Leo," is the second oldest of "The Bastards," another of Roderick's illegitimate children. He's one of the most public-facing members of the family, as an important mogul and tastemaker in the video game world who has also parlayed his fame into fame as a socialite/influencer type. In Tamerlane, who is the second child of Roderick and Annabel Lee, the Usher family effectively has their own version of Gwyneth Paltrow. Her husband, Bill (or BillT as his loyal fitness influencer fans know him) is the face of her various Goop-esque entrepreneurial endeavors; they have no children, though, and have... Well, some interesting things going on in their private lives to say the very least.

In her new zombie-like state, Eliza goes to William’s house and murders him before falling down dead (for real this time) herself. From his arrival, the narrator notes the family's isolationist tendencies, as well as the cryptic and special connection between Madeline and Roderick, the final living members of the Usher family. Throughout the tale and her varying states of consciousness, Madeline completely ignores the narrator's presence. After Roderick Usher claims that Madeline has died, the narrator helps Usher entomb Madeline in an underground vault despite noticing Madeline's flushed, lifelike appearance. The bedroom door is then blown open to reveal Madeline, bloodied from her arduous escape from the tomb.

He says it’ll take her three years to do so, and she agrees to do it. She calls him a monster and says she’ll take three years of misery getting off of Ligodone over a lifetime being married to him. Tammy gets ready for the launch event but before she’s able to walk up on the stage, she hears someone else’s voice introduce herself as Tammy. She looks out and sees that it’s Verna, so she doesn’t hesitate walking out behind her and asking her what she’s doing there. In the present timeline, Auguste and Roderick continue to speak when someone crashes through the window, which causes Roderick to fall to the floor. Auguste is alarmed because he can’t see anything, while Roderick sees Tammy’s dead body covered in blood.

Roderick and Madeline are the only remaining members of the Usher family. Frederick Usher was Roderick's first born, with his first wife, Annabel Lee (who we see in flashbacks played by Katie Parker). As an adult, he's an immature, petty man, clearly spoiled by a life of riches where he's been constantly coddled.

Stop motion is an art form that has gone by the wayside these days, and there is only a few places doing it. If creators of The House can successfully manage to partner with a crack writing team, I smell an Oscar on the horizon. Before Auguste arrives at the Usher home, Madeline comes to see Roderick and sits with him in the basement.

Guilt permeates every frame of Flanagan’s Poe universe, and buys into not so much the horror as the terror. The feeling that something awful is imminent makes for an engaging watch. The Fall of the House of Usher is an American gothic horror drama television miniseries created by Mike Flanagan.

Barbie Dreamhouse Playset Mattel

"The Barbie dreamhouse was the first time I encountered the idea of home as an extension of a fashionable, charismatic, dynamic woman," shares San Francisco-based designer Emilie Munroe. "It inspired the notion of domestic life emulating personal energy and style, which is a mantra I support to this day." From the pastel palette to the Laura Ashley-like floral details throughout the premises, this Dreamhouse feels like a '90s time capsule—with a luxe twist. "How fun is that for inspiration for today's home? The house is vintage with modern amenities like a working elevator!" A sweet balcony and swing for little sister Kelly round out the space—offering the perfect hangout for Barbie's community.

Toward the end of the 20th century—more specifically, the '80s and '90s—Mattel began to produce dream houses that resemble the plastic pads we know and love today. (And, in true Barbie fashion, her digs boasted a range of pink hues.) While Shure says these decades were not known for their design, she finds herself drawn to this Dreamhouse era. Between the wheelchair-accessible elevator and integrated light and sounds, this Dreamhouse is equal parts inclusive and innovative. There's also a spare room on the top floor, which can be reimagined into a home office, gym, slumber party room for Barbie's friends, or even an in-law apartment for Ken's parents. (Plus, a pet slide and elevator makes this place suitable for those furry friends.) And, on the design front, the open-air structure and slanted pink roofs look a lot like Airbnb's real-life Dreamhouse... As the world waits with bated breath for the premiere of Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie, the design community has thrusted the spotlight on the dreamhouse.

Immerse yourself in the world of miniature design as you choose from living room sets, bedroom suites, kitchens, and more. Dollhouse furniture lets you curate the perfect space, making every playtime a unique and imaginative experience. In order to find the square footage, we multiplied the width (40 inches) of the DreamHouse by the depth (15.5 inches) and got 620 square inches. We then multiplied that by three (the number of stories) to obtain a total of 1,860 square inches. Next, we divided by 144 square inches (one square foot equals 144 square inches) to get the total square footage of 13 square feet.

Her reinvented DreamHouse, which retails for $179, has three stories, eight rooms, an outdoor area, a rooftop pool and slide, a working elevator, and a garage. Speaking of small spaces, Mattel thought beyond the typical four walls with this foldable, portable alternative. Though Barbie's dream houses typically become larger and more grandiose as time goes by, the Folding Pretty House feels uncharacteristically small and simple. "It could get pretty small when packed, kind of a throwback to the very first homes that had a definite pack and play vibe," Sklar shares.

In her experience, local builders charge from $250 up to high-end at $650 per square foot, shares McGuirk. Based on how many bells and whistles Barbie adds or deletes, her East Coast, 78-square-foot DreamHouse will cost anywhere between $19,500 and $50,700 to build. McGuirk just listed a 10,000-square-foot lot in a suburb of Boston for $250,000, which would accommodate a lot of Barbie DreamHouses. After welcoming more than 100,000 guests at its Toronto location, World of Barbie made its U.S. debut Friday in Santa Monica. The 20,000 square-foot attraction allows fans to step inside Barbie's life-sized Dreamhouse, try on one of Barbie's careers for size and even get in the driver's seat of a Barbie Camper Van designed by West Coast Customs. “While it certainly won’t be to everyone’s taste, the 3,500-square-foot space, views of the Pacific Ocean, private pool, and totally unique design result in a hefty price tag for the property,” said Tony Mariotti, CEO of RubyHome. "I get a feeling of childhood nostalgia looking at that floral wallpaper and frilly furniture from those dreamhousedesigns," she muses.

"It's almost like looking at an old photo where you can’t quite remember, but you know you’ve been in a similar house as kid with the same froufrou bedding." While the 1979 iteration may not have all the bells and whistles of the more recent models—and, of course, that primarily pink palette—designer Candace Shure admits it's her personal dream house. "I’m a huge fan of its louvered windows, lattice front doors, and cheery yellow accents," she shares. Malibu-based luxury real estate company RubyHome, has put the home’s price tag at $10 million — significantly higher than the estimates from the online real estate portals. The massive compound features a massive pool and waterslide, a dance floor, several Barbie-inspired bedrooms and plenty of pink. McGuirk enlightened us on what it would cost to build Barbie’s DreamHouse in New England, imagining an East Coast move for the 61-year-old icon.

The real estate firm evaluated the average sale price of comparable homes with similar amenities, and then added a 10% “premium” due to the home’s one-of-a-kind appearance and appeal. The home appears to be located on the block of Pacific Coast Highway. Estimates from the usual real estate listing sites vary pretty wildly. Zillow gives the home an estimated price tag of $5,347,400, Redfin‘s estimates comes in at $3,491,022, and Realtor.com give the most optimistic estimate at $7,277,000. Earlier this month, Airbnb revealed that guests can sign up to stay at the life-sized doll house, free of charge, as part of a promotion by Mattel.

With an array of career ambitions (and cute outfits to match!), the beach blonde has managed to remain an arbiter of taste since her birth in 1959. Then, in 1962, Mattel released the very first Barbie Dreamhouse, giving the doll a special place to call home. Several decades and many iterations later, Barbie's dreamhouse remains one of the most famous landmarks in fictional architecture—and continues to serve as inspiration for interior designers. Let your child pretend and play with dolls of their choice because every child has their own personality and style. Choose from baby dolls to adventurous characters, these dolls add a touch of magic to your dollhouse, turning it into a hub of storytelling and make-believe.

Designing and decorating a doll house helps your kid with their decision making skills, their creative skills grow as they decide about the layout, color schemes, and furniture arrangements. These choices stimulate problem-solving skills and allow your child to experiment with spatial configurations and develop a sense of aesthetics. Dollhouse kits are an ideal blend of convenience and enjoyment.

EXPERIENCE OUR NEWEST DREAMHOUSE

With its multi-story waterslide—the longest in Barbie history, according to Mattel—it's easy to write off the 2023 Dreamhouse as pure fantasy. However, when you look a little closer, you'll notice this property is decked out with amenities that speak to what the modern-day homeowner wants. Perhaps the most quintessential dream house is the one Mattel debuted in 1998. (In fact, a similar model was sold as a Christmas ornament later that year.) McCauley notes that—with its scalloped edges along the facade and two-storied silo—this Dreamhouse bears a striking resemblance to San Francisco's Painted Ladies.

When young imaginations move into the Barbie® Dreamhouse™, they turn this amazing dollhouse into a dream home! Plug-and-play design helps keep pieces in place as small hands move around (and make clean up easy for adult hands!). Lights and sounds add even more delightful touches -- the oven lights up and the timer ticks, the stovetop sizzles with the frying pan and whistles with the tea kettle and the toilet makes a flushing sound. Pool parties, friend sleepovers, sister bonding, backyard BBQs, birthday, holidays and every day -- there are endless stories to tell and limitless ways to explore living in the Barbie® Dreamhouse™ because with Barbie®, anything is possible. Includes Barbie® Dreamhouse and 70 accessories that include furniture, household items and a puppy; dolls, fashions and car not included.

After designing the layout, set the scene for any story with three songs, two soundscapes and customizable light settings! Then, double the fun with transforming furniture -- the BBQ grill reverses to reveal a dessert buffet, the entertainment center reverses to reveal a pet play area, and a bunk bed folds down from the wall. Kids can play out any story, from an ordinary day to the ultimate get-together with a kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, pool, balcony, party room and more. Lift and lower Barbie® doll and her friends in the working elevator, fill the pool with water to make a splash, soak up some sun on the third-floor balcony and rooftop deck, and host a pet playdate with a puppy pool and slide. -- feature realistic touches and textures that bring any Barbie® story to life.

Efforts underway to save iconic Santa Monica diner

Dollhouses are not only entertaining but they also help in the development of your child. They may seem like simple toys but dollhouses come with a range of benefits that can help your child learn and grow in many ways. Dollhouses are timeless, you can rebuild them and save them for a very long time. Your child can easily arrange furniture or add characters in their little playhouse. These activities help them cultivate a strong foundation for creative thought that can last for a lifetime. As we look back at Barbie's extensive real-estate portfolio—and the realized dreams that came with each acquisition—we couldn't help but notice that some of her plastic properties have shaped the way we think about our own homes.

But for a more accurate guesstimate, it might take the expertise of local real estate experts who are familiar with the homes in the area and what they usually fetch on the open market. Obviously, oceanfront property in one of America’s most desired enclaves is going to cost a pretty penny. But a gaudy manor inspired by the stylistic choices of a fashionista children’s doll is a bit of an unprecedented sale. It’s important to note that the home isn’t actively for sale and is privately owned, so any speculation about its price is just that. But just like Barbie herself, it is fun to play pretend.

McGuirk enlightened us on what it would cost to build Barbie’s DreamHouse in New England, imagining an East Coast move for the 61-year-old icon.

But unlike Barbie's original Dreamhouse—which is essentially one big room—this version offers guidance how to make the most of limited square feet. Sections for dining, living, and sleeping give Barbie a full-functioning home, while small touches like a Murphy bed and swivel provides plenty of small space savviness. The Barbie dreamhouse isn't just the star of a certain movie premiering this week—have you heard of it? And of course it's the inspiration for a beyond-fun home reno show. Before those latest entries in Barbie Land, where pink reigns supreme and every corner is packed with unapologetic glamour, there was the original doll herself.

"Anyone watching the 90s TV show Full House, which took place in San Francisco, would find the ornate Victorian details of this Dreamhouse familiar," she notes. The production also features a museum exhibit where guests can see how Barbie, her Dreamhouse and her various vehicles have evolved over the years. You can even see the Barbie doll that started it all, clad in a black and white striped swimsuit and her iconic ponytail.

The dreamhouse might've been the perfect accessory for budding homebodies, but Barbie lovers with a penchant for adventure loved her Motorhouse. With angular furniture and a boxy television, the inaugural Dreamhouse feels like a 1962 time capsule. (Who doesn't love the collegiate pennants and dreamy photo of Ken?) Barbie's first home might've been on the smaller side, but Tara McCauley points out that big dreams are seldom restrained by square footage. Since square footage is at a premium, the Motorhouse isn't as dreamy as some of its predecessors—but might we argue it offers something better? From a practical footprint to a breakfast nook that transforms into a bed, this version proves that home can be anywhere—regardless of its size or location.

The millennium's dream houses might have updated touches, but Los-Angeles-based designer Amy Sklar says they represent a health mix between old and new. "After the Victorian foray, we started to to see what looks and feels not dissimilar to the good old 70's townhouse," she explains. The customizable kit allows you to choose door and window placement, and you can even design your own interior layout by installing the staircase to the second-floor loft space in any of the four corners of this barn-style home. We’d be remiss not to remind tiny-homeowners to check local zoning regulations and compliance before purchasing and building.

The Dwarf House restaurant first opened in 1946 and was last renovated in 1967. The latest renovation, which broke ground in May 2021, more than doubles the restaurant’s operational capacity and modernizes the space while honoring the restaurant’s rich history. With two bedrooms (including a walk-in closet!), this tiny home is just right for a small family. The fully-equipped chef's kitchen can whip up alfresco meals for warm summer nights. Not to mention, the industrial-meets-cabin aesthetic is sleek and inviting.

With double doors on one side, a single door on another, and windows on all sides, this structure is nothing short of homey. If the brown color isn't doing it for you, feel free to paint it any shade that suits you. Owning a tiny house isn't just for the minimalists though, so maximalists, listen up!

Friendly faces, clean spaces and flowers on the tables are just a few ways we try to make your visit pleasant. More than just chicken, we strive to support local causes and look for ways to give back to the community. When you join our tiered membership program Chick-fil-A One, you can start earning points every time you order the food you love. But that’s a problem and one we can live with, particularly when you throw in the rumor that many of the little people supplemented their income by working at the nearby Welch’s Restaurant on Atlantic.

A bed that can be pulled out for sleeping and put away during the day maximizes efficiency. Since this space is where you will spend time sleeping and relaxing, your tiny house bedroom ideas should encourage comfort. Those not opposed to a lack of privacy can opt for glass walls like this greenhouse-esque home's in South Africa. Head over for inspiration from its luxury tile, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and sleek, modern deck. It shows how much life and beauty plants can bring to any tiny house too.

This tiny cottage also makes an excellent backyard retreat if you aren’t ready to commit to the tiny-house life and just need a break from the chaos of home. Enjoy a relaxing morning sipping coffee on your front porch, or spend a rainy day indoors gazing out the windows of this cozy cedar home. Assembly hardware, plans, and even a preshingled roof are included for an easy build.

This cottage frame is made of recycled steel, making for an environmentally friendly tiny house. The steel protects your home from mold, bugs, and rodents; is fire-resistant for safety; and designed to withstand cyclones and hurricanes. The Dwarf House® restaurant is a classic diner open six days a week, and offers sit-down, counter and drive-thru service. Along with the classic Chick-fil-A® menu, The Dwarf House staples include Dwarf Burgers, Giant Burgers and the famous Hot Brown, which is chicken mixed with cream sauce, cheese and bacon. Macaroni & Cheese, Fried Okra and Cole Slaw are also on the list of sides. For dessert, customers can order homemade Lemon, Chocolate or Coconut Pie. Serving freshly prepared food crafted with quality ingredients every day of the week (except Sunday, of course).

Get the look of a full-size suburban home with this gable window beauty. Break up the traditional tiny-house open-floor plan with the help of a full second-floor loft that includes four- to six-foot headroom. We suggest creating a patio space on the side so you can open the double doors for an indoor-outdoor feel. From a pie shop to murals to exclusive merchandise, The Dwarf House is designed to be both a full-service restaurant and a destination that tells the story of where it all began for Chick-fil-A.

With easy-to-follow instructions (complete with videos) to help guide you through the assembly process, you'll have this studio space up and running in no time. It comes with everything you'd need, including fully panelized wall sections, pre-framed roof sections, trim, hardware, and fasteners. Slightly easier to build than the previous tiny house, this one includes pre-cut, ready-to-assemble pieces that don't require any special skills or tools. There's also a complete floor system, two large windows with transoms, and integrated transom door windows, so there will be no shortage of light here.

T Coronae Borealis’ light is not the result of a single cosmic body exploding but instead a celestial dance between two dying stars orbiting one another. The larger of the two, a red giant star with roughly the mass of our solar system’s sun, is losing its material, including hydrogen and helium. Some of this ejecta falls to its companion white dwarf which despite being roughly the size of Earth contains around 40 percent more matter than the sun, making it incredibly dense. Costing over £800million ($1billion) to build, the mega project will be an estimated 1345 metres tall - four times the height of the Empire State Building. It is a hyper-tall structure that has already started being built - with it on course to become the world's tallest manmade structure. Within the next decade or so, Dubai is hoped to have the world's tallest building, the world's biggest mall.

Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, first started in the restaurant business by opening a twenty-four-hour diner in Hapeville, outside Atlanta, in 1946. Because the restaurant was so small, Cathy and his brother, Ben, decided to name the restaurant the Dwarf Grill (later changed to the Dwarf House). The town is filled with world-class dining, and most of the best eateries are on the Square or nearby. Saint Leo is a must-try while in town, whether you enjoy it for brunch, lunch or dinner.

The James Beard “Best New Restaurant” semifinalist serves wood-fired Italian fare that’s worth the trip alone. (Trust me on this one.) Don’t forget to order a cocktail with your meal – they’re almost as delightful as the pizzas. Sometimes we get so focused on our main dish we forget about the sides, which can be a whole process in itself.

White has probably gained not a pound since he was a walk-on kicker for the Auburn Tigers. There are many other examples of historic references in the remodeled restaurant. With the care usually devoted to preserving relics of the saints, more than a dozen artifacts from the restaurant’s history have been transferred to, and incorporated into, the new building. When it does erupt, it will be closely monitored—Starrfield’s team has reserved time on the James Webb Space Telescope to observe the eruption and determine exactly how much mass gets ejected into space in the process.
